We asked participants in the Center’s research seminar on Excellence in Mentoring Undergraduate Research to share the pressing questions they’re identifying. Those questions include: What are the salient characteristics and boundaries of mentoring undergraduate research? How does mentoring undergraduate researchers differ from mentoring graduate student researchers? How do we scale access to undergraduate research to more students, including students who represent more demographics and students who aren’t planning to attend graduate school? How might mentoring models vary by discipline to better support the inquiry expectations within each discipline? Watch for more videos in this series on Mentoring Undergraduate Research and for research updates from the research seminar as participants continue to investigate key characteristics of mentoring, mentoring models, mentoring and student development, and building capacity for mentoring across faculty career stages.
