Jackie Davenport, Clinical Development Program Lead and Residency Director for ATI Physical therapy, is interested in learning more about developing her network of clinical educators to be prepared to create and sustain engagement with their students. asynchronous and how it could fit into the continuing education courses that ATI offers. Their conversation considers different teaching modalities, hard versus soft rules (or policies versus social contracts) in the classroom, and how technology can be leveraged to enrich connection in this setting. View a transcript of this episode. About our Guest Jackie Davenport, PT, DPT, OCS is the Clinical Development Program Lead and Residency Director for ATI Physical Therapy. Jackie has been involved in residency and post-professional education for Physical Therapists at ATI since 2016 and currently manages the program which is located in 6 areas across the footprint of ATI and brings in 20+ residents each year. She leads a faculty and mentors of over 45 individuals who are focused on providing high quality education to Physical Therapists looking to specialize in Sports and Orthopedic care through their 13 month residency program. She enjoys designing and teaching coursework, especially in the area of the cervical spine, vestibular rehabilitation, clinical reasoning and post-concussion management. You can learn more about ATI’s residency programs here. Meet Our Panel Jesse Stommel is currently a faculty member in the Writing Program at University of Denver. He is also co-founder of Hybrid Pedagogy: the journal of critical digital pedagogy and Digital Pedagogy Lab. He has a PhD from University of Colorado Boulder. He is author of Undoing the Grade: Why We Grade, and How to Stop and co-author of An Urgency of Teachers: the Work of Critical Digital Pedagogy. Jesse is a documentary filmmaker and teaches courses about pedagogy, film, digital studies, and composition. Jesse experiments relentlessly with learning interfaces, both digital and analog, and his research focuses on higher education pedagogy, critical digital pedagogy, and assessment. He’s got a rascal pup, Emily, a clever cat, Loki, and a badass daughter, Hazel. He’s online at jessestommel.com and on X (previously Twitter) @Jessifer. Dale Munday is the course leader for the University of Central Lancashire’s MSc Dental Education course. He has particular expertise in assessment and feedback practices and digital education. Dale is a Senior Fellow of the Advance HE (formally HEA) and a mentor to staff through their fellowship journey. Dale is also an external examiner at 2 separate institutions, PGCE and Education focused. Most recent publications have centered around building the post-pandemic university, approaches to hybrid pedagogy and learning design influences in a higher education context, as well as active learning approaches in digital education. His PhD thesis is centered around the participative development of blended learning activity across a higher education institution: navigating potentiality in a Change Laboratory research-intervention. Dale has extensive and varied teaching experience, from entry-level to Master’s level across a range of Further Education and Higher Education institutions. Dale has worked in community learning, prison education, NEET provision, and also worked as a Digital Learning Facilitator at a leading UK university. Dale has taken this experience and been sought out to consult and advise on a range of HE projects aiming to create a future-facing curriculum and digital infrastructure to match. Eric Mulford is a Senior Nursing major at Elon University. He has dedicated his entire adult life to serving others as a Firefighter and Paramedic. With over 24 years of experience in emergency medical services, Eric retired early in 2021 to pursue his passion for healthcare by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Originally from Daytona Beach, FL, he now resides in Burlington, NC, with his wife and four children. Eric is deeply committed to advancing health and well-being, with a particular focus on education and advocacy. He has presented on the opioid epidemic at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Elon University, contributing to awareness and solutions for one of today’s most pressing public health challenges. A natural leader and mentor, Eric is passionate about fostering growth and development in those around him, believing that strong teams are built through mutual support and empowerment.
