Headshot of Dawn Michelle Whitehead

Dawn Michele Whitehead is the Vice President of the Office of Global Citizenship for Campus, Community, and Careers at the American Association of Colleges and Universities.  Whitehead has written and presented nationally and internationally on global learning, community-based learning, and curricular change. She has co-facilitated working groups on mentored undergraduate research in global contexts and directs the Institute on Engaged and Integrative Learning. Whitehead is an inaugural member of the Institute for International Education’s National Academy for International Education and serves as the vice-chair of the board of directors for The Forum on Education Abroad.  She earned her PhD from Indiana University, Bloomington. 

Headshot of Maureen Vandermaas-Peeler

Maureen Vandermaas-Peeler is Director of the Center for Research on Global Engagement (CRGE) and a professor of psychology at Elon University. A developmental psychologist, Maureen studies early childhood learning in sociocultural contexts and global learning and mentoring in higher education. In addition to her work as a teacher-scholar-mentor at Elon, Maureen has taught off-campus short-term courses and semesters abroad, including in London, Florence, Copenhagen, and Hawai’i. Maureen is a co-editor of the AAC&U publication Mentored Undergraduate Research in Global Contexts: Integrated High-Impact Practices for Student Success (2024) and the Council on Undergraduate Research’s edited collection Excellence in Mentoring Undergraduate Research (2018).
