In “It Wasn’t What I Came for But I’m Sure Glad I Stayed: From Writing Studies to SoTL,” Kristin Winet tells the story of how she discovered SoTL after she’d already established herself within a disciplinary career. She describes her struggle with letting go of her disciplinary identity to redefine herself, her professional life, and a professional community within SoTL. Looking back, she realizes she has “always thrived in liminal spaces.” Her journey will resonate with anyone who has considered leaving the traditional academic pathway leading towards a tenured faculty position.
